BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP ORDINANCES

Trash Cans

Trash cans cannot be visible from the road.  Many of our neighbors are electing to purchase a partition to block visibility of their cans from the road, but you can also put them inside your garage, plant a hedge, or place the cans in your backyard.

Permits
All fences and any structure having an accessory use must have  a permit which can obtained from Bloomfield Township. The SBHIA is only notified if the homeowner is applying for a variance from Bloomfield Township.  All variances must be approved by the SBHIA Board of Directors.

Dog Ordinance - (Ordinance #423)
Dogs are not permitted to run at large off owner’s property. Dogs must be on a leash at all times when off the owner’s property, even if the owner is present.  It is unlawful to permit a dog to deposit fecal matter other than on owner’s property, unless immediately collected.  Violators of this Dog Ordinance are subject to: $500 fine, plus costs and/or imprisonment not exceeding 90 days.  Residents may anonymously report violators to Animal Control of the Police Department at 248.433.7757.

Open Storage
Only licensed operational passenger vehicles are permitted to be parked in a driveway overnight per Bloomfield Township Regulation #1508.  Vehicles are not to be parked on the grass.  Commercial and recreational vehicles are not to be parked overnight in a driveway.

Oakland County Tree Removal Policy

If a tree is diseased or dead, a County Arborist will inspect the tree. They will then measure from the center of the road to identify the right-of-way (Hillsdale is 20 feet, Marlborough is 25 feet, etc.). If any part of the tree trunk is in the right-of-way, the County will accept responsibility and have the tree pruned or removed.

The Township will send out their crews only if a tree has fallen into the street and needs immediate removal.
